The Bakala Foundation is the Czech family foundation of Michaela and Zdeněk Bakala and was founded in 2007 to provide scholarships for talented students to study abroad at leading universities via the Scholarship program. Since then, the portfolio has grown substantially, among others including high school scholarships ASSIST & HMC.
With its breadth of support for education and the implementation of programs for young talents, the Foundation is one of the unique foundations in the Czech Republic. Since 2010, the Foundation has awarded almost 200 scholarships to university students in fields ranging from the natural sciences to the humanities. The Foundation has also helped to fund a wide range of cultural and other programs in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Education is the best investment

The Foundation’s activities include programs and projects aimed at helping young people in the early stages of their professional careers. The Foundation supports young journalists and independent journalism through Journey: Journalism Bootcamp and Achilles Data, training of investigative journalism. For emerging architects, the Kaplicky Internship offers work experience in prestigious European architectural studios. The Foundation also runs the Student Hub – a co-studying center for students. Its resources include a library as well as counseling for students interested in studying abroad, public seminars on education and meetings with prominent speakers.
